Size Guide
Every foot is different, so the surest way to get the right pair is to measure rather than guess. It takes about a minute.
How to measure
- Put a sheet of paper on a hard floor against a wall, and stand on it with your heel touching the wall. Wear the socks or tights you will dance in.
- Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe — which is not always the big toe.
- Measure from the wall edge of the paper to the mark, in centimetres.
- Measure both feet and use the longer one. Most people have one foot slightly larger than the other.
- Find your measurement in the Foot length column below.
How a ballet shoe should fit
A ballet shoe is not a street shoe and should not be sized like one. It should sit close to the foot like a sock: snug across the width, with your toes lying flat and no spare length beyond your longest toe. There is no growing room in a ballet shoe — extra length bunches under the arch and lets the heel slip when you rise.
If your measurement falls between two rows, try the smaller one first. Our canvas is soft and gives a little with wear, so a pair that feels close on the first day will settle rather than tighten.

Our kids shoes run from Little Kid 5 to Big Kid 2. The adult shoes pick up exactly where they stop: Big Kid 3 is the same size as Women 5, and it is the smallest size in the adult range. If your child is bigger than a Big Kid 2, the adult shoe is the one you want.
Choosing your shade
Our shoes come in six shades across three ranges. Within each range, one shade has a cool undertone and one has a warm undertone.
| Shade | Range | Undertone |
|---|---|---|
| Cacao | Deep | Cool |
| Kola | Deep | Warm |
| Chai | Medium | Cool |
| Dune | Medium | Warm |
| Shea | Light | Warm |
| Pearl | Light | Cool |
To find your undertone, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in daylight. If they look blue or purple, you are usually cool. If they look green or olive, you are usually warm. If you cannot tell, you are likely neutral and either shade in your range will sit well.
Screens vary, so treat the swatches as a guide rather than an exact match. If you are between two shades, the deeper one tends to disappear against the leg more convincingly than the lighter one.
Care
Hand wash for best results. Turn inside out, wash and rinse thoroughly, then air dry. If you use a washing machine, use a delicate cycle and a low dry setting. Our shoes are made of cotton canvas, so please use caution with high temperatures as they can cause shrinkage.
